Earlier this Spring I held an Engagement Giveaway. Kayte & Simon ended up being the People’s Choice Winners! Kayte & Simon worked very hard to share their love story and I was so delighted when I finally had the chance to meet them. They have a pretty cool story and it goes a little something like this:
From Kayte “Simon and I met online 11 years ago. I was 11 and he was 13. We kept contact all through our teen years before finally meeting when I travelled to Canada from Australia to stay with him for a month in April 2010. We were determined to make our relationship work despite the huge distance, and in June of 2011, I moved to Canada on a work visa. That Christmas was my first “white” Christmas, and although he isn’t crazy about the holiday he was determined to make sure it was amazing. He took me to many local Christmas events, went looking at decorated houses and topped it of by proposing to me in the early hours of Christmas morning. We are currently awaiting a visa to permit our wedding, set for November 9th of this year. I could not imagine a life without him in it. He makes me laugh the most I’ve ever laughed and we fall in love with each other a little bit more every day.”
How adorable is that? Sighhhhh so sweet. Since Kayte first submitted their story- the visa permit has been approved and they are now planning their wedding for this November. Kayte & Simon will be moving to Australia this fall and they will be hosting a “high tea” themed wedding in Kayte’s parents backyard. Kayte & Simon currently live fairly close to me so when we were discussing locations for their Engagement Session we decided to stay in the Coquitlam area. It was important to Kayte to incorporate “Canadian elements” during our session. Once she moves back home she wants to keep those special memories of her time in Canada close. The beautiful rivers, lakes, mountains & lush greenery are all special features in our area.We had a lot of fun checking out some of the spots they frequent regularly. Coquitlam River Trail, La Farge Lake, Buntzen Lake & Rocky Point Park. While Coquitlam is a very beautiful city I would have been all for flying to Kayte’s hometown of Newcastle, NSW for their Engagement Shoot. Australia is one of my favourite countries! I’ve been twice and I sure hope to go back again one day soon.
Kayte & Simon- Such a pleasure finally meeting you. You are so sweet and I had such a fun time with you both. Wishing you all the best with your wedding and your move to Auz!
