This post is very special to me because of the two wonderful people in it. I have been friends with Shay and Monika for a few years now. My husband Matt & Shay are close friends and met back in Paramedic school. On Valentine’s day 2009 Shay met Monika. I will never forget the first time we had the privilege of meeting Monika. Shay had invited us for drinks at a Bar on Davie Street to meet her. I believe it was the end of that February. I will never forget the sweet, sophisticated brunette that walked in the door that evening. I thought wow… Shay! Where did you find this girl?! She’s got some serious class. From that moment I knew on that Shay had found the one. I don’t think he was thinking marriage at that time, but I could see it. Why? Because let’s be honest- girls like Monika don’t come around around often. She was definitely one in a million. These two have so much fun together! Their personalities are very different, but compliment one another perfectly. They share a love for the great outdoors and spend much of their free time camping and hiking. This past week they headed on a trip up near Whistler. The hiked up the beautiful Wedge Mountain. When they were WAY up high, Shay got down on one knee and proposed. He had set up his camera on a tripod and caught a series of moments to treasure forever. I couldn’t be happier for these two! We were very lucky to catch up with at their home in Aldergrove after they got back. We had a delicious bbq and some wine. After dinner we headed out to their beautiful backyard for some engagement photos. Here are a few of my favourites below!
