Q: Where are you located?
A: I’m a wedding photographer based in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I love to travel and I’m available for weddings worldwide.
Q: How much are your wedding packages?
A: 8 Hour wedding packages start at $3000. Please contact me for a full collection price list.
Q: Do you shoot anything other than weddings?
A: I offer a la carte engagement sessions. At this time I do not offer family, children or newborn sessions (with the exception of family photos included at the wedding).
Q: Can we meet up in person to chat more?
A: Absolutely! If you are interested in booking we can meet over coffee for a complimentary consultation.
Q: How can I book your for our wedding?
A: A signed contract and a 50% non refundable retainer fee is required to book your wedding date. Once those two things are finished your date is officially booked and added to my wedding calendar.
Q: Can you hold the date while we we decide?
A: No, unfortunately I don’t hold dates without the contract and retainer fee. If another couple inquires while your are deciding I will contact you to see if you are still interested in booking prior to meeting with them.
Q: Do you include engagement sessions with your packages?
A: Yes. All of my wedding packages include a complimentary engagement session. For many couples this might be the first time they’ve worked with a photographer. It’s very important for me to bond with the couple ahead of the wedding and let them see how I shoot. It makes the bride and groom feel more comfortable when the wedding day comes because they know what to expect. Engagement sessions are not exchangeable.
Q: Will you be photographing our wedding
A: Yes! Myself (Kim James) will be photographing your wedding. If your package includes a second photographer then one of my trusted wedding photographer associates will be along side me to help capture the day.
Q: Do you include the high resolution photos for our wedding?
A: Yes. All of my couples will receive the high resolution copies of their photos. Your package comes with an online viewing gallery. You’ll have the ability to share the gallery with family & friends so they can download the photos. You also have the option of purchasing professional prints directly from your gallery.
Q: How many photos will we receive?
A: Every wedding is different. You will receive approximately 75-100 photos per each hour of shooting.
Q: When will we receive our photos?
A: I typically send a few sneak peeks within a week of the wedding. The full collection will be delivered 4-8 weeks after your wedding (this depends on workload).
Q: Do you take candid or posed photos?
A: I shoot a mix of candid and posed photos throughout the wedding day.
Q: Do you sell wedding albums?
A: Yes! An album is the perfect way to preserve your wedding memories for a life time. Albums also make great gifts for parents and grandparents. I have packages that include an album and they are available for purchase a la carte.
Q: Do you do this full time?
A: Yes, this is my full time job.
Q: Do you shoot destination weddings?
A: Yes! I absolutely love destination weddings. Having the chance to capture a couple in love and at a new location is one of my favourite things! I have special packages available for weddings. I am currently offering no travel fees on my destination packages for Australia and Europe. If you are getting married there please feel free to contact me for your special package rate!
Q: Do you have business insurance?
A: Yes! My business insurance also covers emergency rental worldwide, so if you’re having a destination wedding we are covered.
Q: Do you shoot Canon or Nikon
A: I’m a canon shooter:) both are equally awesome though!
Q: Do you do videography too?
A: No I don’t. I specialize only in photography. With that said I would be happy to send you a list of great videographers for your wedding.
Q: Do you shoot more than one wedding a day?
A: No. Once you book the date- it’s yours!
Q: How long have you been shooting weddings?
A: 2016 marks my 5th wedding season!
Q: Do you edit all of our photos
A: Yes. Editing includes colour correction, exposure adjustments, and tonal adjustments to reflect my style. The photos you receive will look similar to the photos you see on my blog/website. Retouching is not included (photoshopping face/body/objects etc) is not included. If this is something that is important to you it can be done for an additional charge.
Q: Do you give out the RAW files?
Q: Do you shoot elopements and small weddings?
A: Yes! Intimate weddings are my favourite! Packages smaller than 6 hours are available during the week Monday-Thursday (not including stat holidays) and between October-April. Please contact me for more information.
Q: Do we need a wedding planner?
A: Wedding planners are worth their weight in gold. I highly recommend having one to make your day run smoothly. If a wedding planner is not in your budget I highly suggest hiring a day of coordinator.
Q: Should I get my hair and makeup done?
A: Yes! Many brides have experience doing their makeup on a regular basis. With that said having a professional makeup artist and hairstylist will ensure you will look flawless all day long. I know some talented artists and I would be happy to send you their contact information.
Q: We’re not sure how much time we need for photos throughout the day. Will you help us with our timeline?
A: Of course! I’m here to help throughout the process. I send all of my couples a wedding timeline guideline to assist them with planning the timeline.
Q: What will we do if it rains?
A: The wedding must go on. It rains a lot in Vancouver and even in the middle of summer the rain can still make occasional appearances. I strongly recommend all couples have an indoor or covered/tented venue backup plan. We usually still end up shooting some portraits outside. Clear or white umbrellas work the best in photos because they don’t create shadows or weird/dark colour casts on faces. Gumboots under a wedding dress outside can also be helpful if it’s raining a lot or if there are puddles.
